The Muleshoe Art Association hosted its spring art show the week of April 8-12, and some fine art work was on display at the Oneita Wagnon Senior Center.

Margaret Hodgson from Lubbock  judged  one hundred and eleven entries in the show. Landscapes are her favorite subject matter. She teaches plein air classes at the Garden and Arts Center in Lubbock.

Sandi Chitwood won a first place ribbon in the Oils division with “Yucca Bloom,” Lois Snyder placed second with “Celebrating Spring,” Jackie Hinderliter placed third with “Lana,” and Lois Snyder received honorable mention for “Hints of Fall.”

In the Pastels and Drawing division, Adrian Diaz placed first with “Paramnesia.” Sandra Chancey was second with “Cotton Bolls, and Kip De Foor placed third with “Bronc Twister.”

In Mixed Media, the winner was Adrian Diaz with “Ms. Neely and Family.”

In the Miscellaneous division, first place went to Phil Gaasch with “Truck,’ second was “Sunset at the Vineyard,” by Melba Bratcher, third was “Fall Harvest,” by Sandi Chitwood, and honorable mention was “Stained Glass Tulips,” by Cathy Hunt.

In Watercolor, Lois Snyder won first place with “Peaceful Beauty,” Sandi Chitwood won second with “Autumn Glory,’ Sharon PIckett won third with “Purple Glads,” and Samantha Hoover won honorable mention with “MIsty Forest,”

First place in the Photography division went to Alice Liles for “Maynard,” second place went to Kelly Karn for “West Texas Sky,” third place went to Sharon Karn for “Mystic Sky,” and honorable mention went to Shirley White for “Mail Boxes.”

In Acrylics, first place went to Luke Leal for “Untitled,” second also went to Luke for “Solitary Step,” third went to Sara Bice for “Set Free.” and Sandi Chitwood got an honorable mention for “Summer Delight.”

In the new Miniatures division, Lois Snyder won first place with “Reflections of Time Past,” Ann Johnson place second with “Desert Day,” Shirley White placed third with “Colorado,” and Melba Bratcher was honorable mention with “Iris Flower has an Admirer.”

The Best of Show award went to Misti Prater’s graphite, “Mother’s Love.”

The People’s Choice Award goes to the piece of art selected by the spectators who visited the show, and the favorite chosen this year was Luke Lea’s “Untitled.”

Artwork entered in the show came from artists who live in Muleshoe, Brownfield, Lubbock, Portales, and Clovis. The Muleshoe Art Association appreciated artists’ participation and spectator interest. The Association will host another spring show in 2025. Association meetings are held monthly, except for the summer, on the first Tuesday of the month at 2 p.m., at the Oneita Wagnon Senior Center. Visitors and prospective members are welcome to attend.
