Monday night signaled the beginning of football for the Muleshoe Mules. Meet the Mules was held in the gym this year, what with it being 100 degrees outside and the fact that last year’s Meet the Mules was almost ruined by a thunderstorm.
Athletic director and head coach Jason Richards started things off, first introducing booster club president Brittany Pendley, and then we met the junior high cheerleaders. Their sponsor is Charity Price.
Next, the varsity cheerleaders did their thing. Their sponsor is Debbie Myers.
The Mini Mules were next, and the floor was full of little girls with lots of energy and smiles.
The cross country team introduced themselves next. Adrian Ross is their coach.
The band was on hand as well. Director Donnie Reston and drum major Melody Gonzales led the band in one of their numbers and later for the school song. I didn’t get a very clear picture of the band, but they are there!
The Junior Varsity lined up next, and I was looking for Mario Zaragosa, our neighbor who will be on the J.V. team this year. And there he is, number 55! But I did get a picture of the whole team. Steven Butler is their coach.
The team trainers came next. Stephen Seymore works with these students.
The Varsity Muleshoe Mules were next. Lots of young men will be wearing the black and white.
After Larry Cribbs, MHS Student Service Coordinator, announced each player’s name and grade classification, it was time for the school song.
The team gathered for a group shot, and everyone went outside for watermelon supplied by United Supermarket.
The Mules first game is at Brownwood, August 30 at 7 p.m.
Their first home game is with Lamesa, September 6 at 7 p.m.
And the first district game is at Roosevelt, October 11 at 7 p.m.
