The Muleshoe Art Association held its annual spring art show April 14-17 at the Oneita Wagnon Senior Center. The show had 114 entries from artists in Muleshoe, Portales, Clovis, Fort Sumner, and Brownfield. A good group showed up for the awards.
Garret Wilson welcomed the group to the event, gave a little background on the association and the value of art in one’s life, and then shared the results of the judging of the show.
Dyan Newton from Abernathy judged this year’s show. She works with all mediums, but prefers acrylics and watercolor Her paintings are hanging in galleries in Lubbock and Ruidoso.
First place in the watercolor division went to Kip De Foor. Second place went to Sharon Pickett, Third to Kip De Foor, and Honorable Mention to Dianne Brown and Sandi Chitwood.
In the acrylic division, First Place went to Crystal Welch, Second to Debbie Black, Third to Debbie Black, and she also received an Honorable Mention!
First place in oils went to Sara Bice, Second to Lois Snyder, Third to Lois Snyder, and Kip De Foor received two Honorable Mentions.
First Place for pastels and drawings went to Misti Prater, Second and Third to Sandra Chancey, and Kip De Foor was given an Honorable Mention.
Miniatures are small paintings, and this year’s First Place miniature was tiny! First Place went to Sandi Chitwood, Sharon Pickett got Second and Third, Melba Bratcher and Debbie Black received an Honorable Mention.
In the miscellaneous division, Misti Prater won First Place, Garret Wilson got Second, Third went to Phil Gaasch, and Garret Wilson also received an Honorable Mention.
Shirley White placed First in the photography division, Christi Hemengway got Second and Third, and John Hall received an Honorable Mention.
Best of Show went to the largest piece in the show, an oil painting, Blue Reinke Pivot by Oralia Mendoza.
